Hello Dungeonistas!

Just a quick update on the progress for Dungeon Date Delves and Dungeon Date: Roll with Style! Our final playtesting is complete, and we are now proceeding with putting together rewards, as well as finalizing the rules and layout for both games based on feedback.

Here's a quick look at our timeline and progress:

I'm working on finalizing the enamel pin design for Dungeoneer pledge level and we'll have that out to our manufacturer next week. I'm also shopping for paper materials to construct the handmade paper valentines. Really looking forward to making those! A survey will go out next week for Dungeoneer level backers to choose what monster they would like for their cards.

Final versions of the Roll-n-Write sheets will take some time over the next couple of months. I'll share progress in future updates as I work to refine the sheets. As always, feedback is appreciated at any stage of the process.

I am really looking forward to incorporating more artwork into the Delves book in the next round of revisions. I'm considering mocking up a fresh cover using other assets we have available, rather than using the same cover art for both the card game and rpg. I'll share some mockups when I think I've got something so you can chime in on which you'd prefer!

Other Nerdy Pup News

Just wanted to share that our other Kickstarter from April, Super Squad High, successfully funded! It's a year out from release, development was completed last year, and it slots neatly into our timeline for our Dungeon Date games. I'm really proud of this game, it tells a richly thematic story through game mechanics every time you play. I don't think there's anything else like it. Thanks to everyone here that backed! Greetings, Backers!

Hope you all are having a good start to the new year! I'm pleased to share that the playtest versions of Dungeon Date Delves and Dungeon Date: Roll with Style are now available! If your pledge level included the PDF version of either game, you should receive an email notification from Backerkit with playtest files.

I am also going to make the playtest files available to backers through Dropbox. I'll share the link in a backers-only update shortly after this one.

Timeline

Our project is on schedule to deliver the final games in October. We have a busy year ahead of us! Here are the milestones for this project.

Note that the playtest layout of both the RPG and the roll-n-write still need some finishing touches. I'm planning to add additional artwork, trade dress, and play examples to both documents for the final release. The RPG will include final artwork for all six dungeon maps -- I have included basic wireframes for 5 of the 6 dungeons for now. It takes 2+ hours per map to complete the artwork, and I will make time for that in the revision period in May-June.

Stuff!

We've purchased materials for our backer rewards! It's kind of satisfying to see it all in one pile. We'll be manufacturing the custom dice bags over the summer, and package up all of the dice sets once we are closer to our fulfillment date.

New Project

We are launching a new project on Kickstarter in April. For the sake of full disclosure, I want to let you know about the project in advance. My focus in February and March will be primarily on making the new project a success, but it will not impact the timeline, budget, or delivery date for Dungeon Date Delves/Roll with Style. If you have any questions or concerns about how the projects will interact, please feel free to drop a comment here or direct message me.

For anyone interested, the new game is Super Squad High, a cooperative strategy game where you play teen superheroes in high school! We're launching on April 2nd.

Holidays with Style! (December 2023 Update)

Happy holidays, Dungeonistas!

Just checking in with a quick update on all things Dungeon Date before the end-of-year holidays kick in. I'm happy to report that the project is on-schedule. 

Dungeon Date: Roll with Style: Initial development is complete for all stretch goals for the roll-n-write! We have some internal playtesting left to do, and the "beta" layout for all sheets to do over the course of the next month.

Dungeon Date Delves: I have completed my first draft of the stretch goals for the ttrpg. I'm hoping to get some revisions and playtesting done over the holiday break next week, with "beta" layout to follow.

Dungeon Date card game: A second printing of the card game has been ordered with our manufacturer Longpack Games, and will go to print in the next few weeks. Our first print-run of 1000 copies completely sold out, it's exciting to be able to get the game into the hands of more players!

Custom Rewards: A survey will go out for anyone that backed at the Dungeoneer level early next year so you can choose monsters for your papercraft valentines! Work on valentines will begin in May to give me enough time to complete them once other rewards are ready to ship.

MOAR in January!

I will have another update in January with a timeline for 2024, as well as links to the playtest versions of the roll-n-write and ttrpg. Thanks again for supporting the project. Hope everyone has a restful holiday season!
